An amber heat-health alert has been issued for the area as temperatures across Norfolk are forecast to climb towards 31°C later this week.
The alert will be in force from 9am on Wednesday until 9pm on Sunday, with a period of sustained hot weather expected across the region.
Temperatures in King’s Lynn are forecast to reach around 29°C on Thursday, while areas further inland could see highs of between 30°C and 31°C.
Health officials are urging people to take sensible precautions during the hot weather, including staying hydrated, keeping homes as cool as possible and avoiding strenuous activity during the hottest parts of the day.
Older adults and people with existing health conditions are considered particularly vulnerable during prolonged periods of high temperatures, while health and social care services are being advised to prepare for increased demand.
People are also being encouraged to check on relatives, friends and neighbours who may be more at risk from the heat.
The amber alert indicates that the hot weather is likely to have significant impacts across health and social care services, with the potential for increased illness and deaths among vulnerable groups.
