Plans for a major shake-up of sports facilities is worrying a West Norfolk club.
Lynnsport Bowls Club is concerned the upgrade of the Lynnsport complex in King’s Lynn will see the existing five-rink bowls hall demolished and replaced with a smaller two-rink facility.
This would be part of a wider scheme which would include replacing St James Swimming Pool with a more modern one at Lynnsport.
But keen bowlers are worried about the impact it would have on their club.
Following an Extraordinary General Meeting held by the Lynnsport Indoor Bowls Club, they are writing to borough councillors asking for the plans to be reviewed.
They have also sent in a formal question for the council to consider at their meeting on October 2 and will gather outside the Town Hall before the meeting to make their concerns known.
Chair of the Club Geoff Bonnick said: “If the proposals come to fruition it will not just devastate bowls at Lynnsport but impact the wider bowls community. It will also hit the more vulnerable in our society, who use the bowls as a social outlet and their way of keeping active. It is appalling what is being planned.”
He is also concerned that council figures suggest usage of the site has dropped when it has actually increased by 90 per cent over the last four years.
