The countdown is on to this year’s Downham Market fireworks display which happens at Stradsett Hall on Saturday November 6 from 4pm.
King’s Lynn and West Norfolk Borough Council is giving a financial boost to the event.
Stuart Dark, council leader, explained: ““The last 18 months have been challenging for not only our communities but for many great local charities, as fundraising has been affected at a time when demand has increased for many residents.
“We are already underwriting the surplus that would be raised for charity at the Hunstanton display should attendance be slightly lower this year due to the covid situation.
“The borough council will now do the same to support the Downham Market Round Table with theirs to help this excellent evening and the great West Norfolk charities it supports.”
Ryan Rix, from organisers Round Table 542, said: “We’re grateful for the support the borough council has offered this year that will benefit local charities. We are probably the largest volunteer run fireworks event in the area, and all the monies we raise go to charitable causes.
“We have a full-sized fairground with dodgems, a rollercoaster and other rides will also be on the grounds, along with archery and axe throwing. If vendors would like to be part of this, or future events, please contact us by emailing info@dmroundtable.co.uk. We look forward to putting on the best show ever.”
