The heatwave in West Norfolk is causing plenty of disruption and delays we are sad to report. Norfolk Fire and Rescue were deployed to 17 incidents at the same time around the county this afternoon, including Clenchwarton, Heacham, Methwold, Dersingham, Castle Rising and Wild Ken Hill, home of Springwatch in Snettisham.

Heartbreaking footage has been posted on social media of the prime habitat along the coastal path ablaze. Dominic Buscall manager at Wild Ken Hill has reported “a bad fire in the Coastal Park. It’s too early to say how bad, but certainly, much wildlife lost.”
The latest reports from the scene around 5:10 pm today (19th July) suggest the fire is under control, but not yet out, The extent of the damage will hopefully be assessed by morning, meantime the whole team are on site trying to get to grips with the situation.
