More than 35,000 appointments have taken place in a new building which has sped up testing and scanning of West Norfolk patients.
The figures were released on the first anniversary of the Community Diagnostic Centre at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in King’s Lynn.
It uses cutting edge technology to do a wide range of work including MRI and CT scans, x-rays and ultrasound imaging to help diagnose and monitor a lot of conditions.
The hospital says the centre’s increase in the number of scans and monitoring means patients are often waiting less time for an appointment.
Samantha Newton, Radiology Manager at The QEH said: “One year on, this facility is making a real difference to patients waiting for diagnostic testing.
“Having access to new state of the art imaging equipment not only enhances the image quality of the scans we provide but helps to develop the skills within our team. We are incredibly proud of all our Radiology colleagues, both those in our main hospital and CDC, providing this additional outpatient capacity. Our team always give patients a fast and efficient service right from their appointment set-up through to the service they receive on the day.”
The QEH CDC is one of three across Norfolk, with others at hospitals in Norwich and Gorleston, near Great Yarmouth.
