Five Nights of Road Closures Planned on Downham Market Western Bypass

Drivers in Downham Market are being warned about five nights of road closures later this month as resurfacing work takes place on the Western Bypass and Station Road roundabout.

Norfolk County Council says the essential maintenance scheme will run from 15 June to 19 June, with overnight closures in place each evening from 7pm until 5am the following morning.

The work will involve carriageway resurfacing on sections of the Western Bypass and around the Station Road roundabout as part of a wider programme of highway improvements.

Access to Saint John’s Way and Fairfield Road will be maintained throughout the project, although drivers are being advised to allow extra time for journeys and follow signed diversion routes where necessary.

The county council says the maintenance work is expected to cost around £205,000 and is aimed at improving the condition of the road surface and extending the life of the route.

The resurfacing scheme is one of several highway improvement projects taking place across Norfolk this summer as part of ongoing road maintenance programmes.
