New objections have been submitted to plans for a 66-bed care home in Fakenham ahead of a decision by North Norfolk District Council.
The proposal would see former industrial units on Holt Road demolished and replaced with a three-storey care home providing nursing and dementia care.
Initial concerns centred on the scale of the building, with objectors describing it as too large for the site. Further objections have now been raised over the loss of commercial premises within a designated employment area.
The council’s economic growth team says the site is intended for employment use and is not considered suitable for housing development.
Additional concerns have also been raised by the Lead Local Flood Authority over a lack of supporting flood risk information, while highways officers have questioned whether the proposed 23 parking spaces would be sufficient for a development of this size.
Planning documents submitted by the applicant state the care home would create new jobs, provide specialist accommodation for older people with higher care needs, and occupy a sustainable location close to Fakenham town centre.
North Norfolk District Council is expected to make a decision on the application at a later date.
