Work to divert two major gas pipelines to enable construction of the West Winch housing access road has taken a step forward.
National Gas Transmission has been granted permission to carry out temporary works from an access point off the A10, paving the way for the diversion to begin.
The pipelines must be moved before construction of the new road can start, with the work expected to take place this year ahead of road building in 2026.
The new access road is designed to ease congestion on the A10 and improve the A47 south of King’s Lynn, while also unlocking land for up to 4,000 new homes.
The gas diversion is a key early stage of the wider project, which aims to improve traffic flow and support long-term growth in the area.
