A West Norfolk community project is aiming to help families struggling to feed children during the Easter holidays.
The Fairstead Community Shop in King’s Lynn is providing packed lunches and also inviting families to apply for its hardship scheme.
Emma Brock, who manages the shop, stepped in after she saw families struggling, and it was brought into sharp focus in West Norfolk with Cambridgeshire County Council still providing support to people a few miles away.
In a statement, the shop said: “We will not back down until Norfolk County Council reviews this and changes its mind. Families in Norfolk deserve so much more. Who are they to choose that children go hungry?”
The shop is asking for support for an online petition at https://www.change.org/p/bring-back-free-schools-meals-in-norfolk
Norfolk County Council says families who are struggling should apply for help through its hardship fund.
