Pantoland in part of Hunstanton is under threat, and not from traditional villains like Abanazar or nasty Ugly Sisters.
The annual community pantomime in the town, which has been moved to Easter due to the pandemic, is suffering from low interest and it means it could be the last community production.
Director Liz Bishopp said: “We have been presenting affordable pantomimes to locals since 2010 usually at Christmas but they were put on hold for two years for obvious reasons.
“Unfortunately, ticket sales are down at this point which means this could sadly be the last of our community Hunstanton pantomimes. All our cast and crew are volunteers – from the production team, front-of-house team and backstage crew to all the actors on stage and they are all either working or in school / college.”
As well as providing entertainment, every child gets a free goody bag and the production supports the local community as well. Liz explained: “We have donated over £10,000 which is split between charities including Tapping House Hospice, Hunstanton Lifeboat Station, Great Ormond Street Hospital, the Mayor’s Basement appeal and many more. This year we again hope to make a donation to the local community but cannot do this without everyone’s help.”
Tickets for the show which runs over Easter at Hunstanton Town Hall are still available. You can find out more and book at https://www.radiowestnorfolk.co.uk/events/hunstanton-easter-panto-cinderella/
