King’s Lynn Night Shelter has temporarily closed because of a lack of funding, with the charity hoping to reopen in the autumn.
The shelter, based on Black Friars Road, welcomed a full house of guests on 30 June before closing its doors the following day.
Staff say some of the people using the service may now have nowhere else to stay and described the closure as a difficult decision.
A spokesperson for the charity said the team would spend the summer focusing on fundraising in the hope of reopening later this year.
While the shelter remains closed, it is unable to accept donations. People experiencing homelessness are being advised to contact the Borough Council of King’s Lynn and West Norfolk for support and assistance.
Before closing, the shelter donated its remaining perishable food supplies to King’s Lynn Foodbank to help support local families during the summer holidays.
The charity has thanked supporters for their continued backing and says it hopes to resume providing emergency accommodation as soon as funding allows.
