South West Norfolk MP Liz Truss is backing plans to strengthen proposals to transport some illegal migrants to Rwanda.
She is joining forces with others including former Home Secretary Suella Braverman to make the changes saying it will stop legal challenges stopping the removal of migrants from the UK.
Ms Truss believes the changes will remove most legal challenges except if a migrant is genuinely medically unfit to fly or under 18, and will also stop some European Court rules which have prevented flights from leaving.
She said: “We have told the British people time and again that we intend to crack down on illegal migration yet keep being thwarted by a range of spurious legal loopholes being exploited by activist lawyers. It is essential that the legislation we are passing is watertight and closes all those possible loopholes, which is why I am backing this raft of amendments.”
