More than 400 trees have been planted in a West Norfolk village by a team of volunteers.
Sedgeford Parish Council organised the mass planting of the trees, which were provided by King’s Lynn and West Norfolk Borough Council.
Paul Kunes, the borough councillor responsible for the environment, said: “It’s wonderful to see over 20 volunteers from the village planting a mixture of hawthorn, field maple and hornbeam trees. The Parish Council have agreed to look after the trees until they are established.
“This is part of our tree planting programme, we’re hoping this year to plant over 6500 trees throughout the borough. They will all be native species and will help towards being net carbon zero by 2030.”
Roger Quick, Clerk at Sedgeford Parish Council, added: “The borough council have kindly donated the trees, arranged for the posts to be put in, our part is to plant the trees and maintain them as we go forward.
“I’m pleased to see the excellent turnout from the village. These trees will help with the carbon footprint of the village as well as in the borough and am also delighted to be doing this in the Platinum Jubilee year.”
