A West Norfolk man has been presented with an Olivier Award for his work in the theatre world.
Peter Wilson, who lives near King’s Lynn, was honoured for his outstanding contribution to the industry as his production The Woman In Black was performed in the West End for the final time after 33 years.
He said the financial climate was a big factor in the show ending. “I would sooner have more young people coming to the theatre than have this play succeed with average prices over £100, which is what the alternative would be,” he said.
As well as producing plays worldwide, Peter was also chief executive of Norwich Theatre Royal for around 25 years and is currently the Vice Lord-Lieutenant of Norfolk representing King Charles around West Norfolk.
