Police Warn After Heating Oil Thefts in Norfolk

Police are urging people to protect their heating oil tanks after hundreds of litres were stolen from homes in Norfolk.

Around 200 litres were taken from a property in Fakenham on 26 March, while a further 600 litres was stolen from a home in Hickling earlier in the week.

Officers say thieves can siphon oil in just minutes, making rural homes particularly vulnerable.

As part of their advice, police are encouraging people to hide tanks where possible, fit locks or cages, improve lighting, and consider installing alarms or CCTV to deter criminals.

They also warn that heating oil theft can be costly and disruptive and are urging residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity.
