The Queen Elizabeth Hospital in King’s Lynn is urging patients to plan ahead as a six-day period of resident doctor strike action is set to take place following the Easter holidays.
The industrial action will run from 7am on Tuesday 7 April until 6.59am on Monday 13 April, marking the 15th round of strikes by resident doctors.
Hospital leaders say essential and life-saving care will continue throughout, with consultants, specialty doctors, nurses and wider clinical teams working together to maintain safe staffing levels during what is expected to be a particularly challenging period.
The strike comes immediately after the Easter break, when staffing is already under pressure due to planned leave, adding further strain on NHS services.
Patients are being advised to attend appointments as normal unless they are contacted directly to rearrange, although some non-urgent procedures and clinics may be postponed.
Health officials are urging people to use NHS services appropriately, stressing that emergency care remains available and anyone with serious or life-threatening conditions should still call 999 or attend A&E.
For less urgent concerns, patients are encouraged to use NHS 111 online or by phone, contact their GP, or seek advice from a pharmacist.
Hospital leaders have thanked staff for their efforts in maintaining services during the disruption and have asked the public for patience and understanding while teams prioritise the most urgent cases.
