Kings Lynn to London Kings Cross – ALL TRAINS to London cancelled

NORTH WOOTON VILLAGE MARKET – Sadly, we have had to make the decision to cancel tomorrow’s Village Market at North Wootton Village Hall. Not only are the high winds and bad weather set to continue over the weekend, but we would not have any stalls outside and people are being advised to stay at home so this decision is for everyone’s safety.

Flood gates in Hunstanton to be shut at all high tides over the weekend

The promenade flood gates will be shut for at least two hours on either side of all the high tides over the weekend as the effects of Storm Eunice will continue for several days.

Strong onshore winds are predicted to continue over the weekend and whilst tides are not currently predicted to be unusually high in this area the gates will be shut to protect people in the area from the risks posed by spray and waves.

Due to the unpredictable nature of storm conditions, this picture may change at short notice. Anyone wishing to check the latest flood warnings in their area can check the Environment Agency website at: Check for flooding in England – GOV.UK (check-for-flooding.service.gov.uk)

The council is also contacting kiosk owners to give advice about protecting their vans.

The Met Office has issued an amber weather warning due to high winds across much of the country and that includes Norfolk.  The strongest gusts are likely to reach 60-70mph and in some places, they will hit 80mph. This will begin early on Friday morning and last throughout the day.
So what impact will that have?
• Flying debris is likely and could cause injury
• Buildings and other infrastructure could be damaged
• Travel will be disrupted
• Power cuts and other service disruption is possible
• Beaches will see larger waves and rougher seas
• Trees and branches will fall, often blocking roads or pathways
Road travel will be disrupted. Please stop and think if your journey on Friday is necessary. Can it be delayed until conditions improve?
Where travel is necessary please allow extra time and make sure you are prepared for the conditions. Rail and other public transport will also be affected so expect delays and cancellations.
  • As always, if you find yourself in an emergency that poses an immediate risk to life then call 999.
  • Report blocked roads or paths with fallen trees: https://orlo.uk/ReportAProblem_Spyuv
  • Report a power cut by contacting UK Power Networks 0800 3163 105 or 105
Our Highways Team and Norfolk Fire & Rescue Service will be working throughout the weekend together with Norfolk Constabulary to keep Norfolk safe so please be patient as they are likely to be dealing with increased pressures.

All areas at Sandringham will be closed on Friday 18 February, due to Storm Eunice and the forecast high winds, this includes all facilities at the Courtyard and car parks. For the safety of all, we strongly advise that visitors also do not attempt to visit Sandringham Royal Parkland either. All areas plan to reopen on Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 February.

BINS: Collections on Friday 18th Feb – The met office has issued an Amber weather warning for tomorrow as Storm Eunice brings very strong winds.  However waste collection will still be taking place as normal, we would like to advise you to bring your emptied bins back in as soon as possible.

You will have seen the forecasts for the next few days, as Storm Eunice is due to hit the UK. With winds of up to 90mph expected in some parts of Norfolk and an Amber Weather Warning in place, we have taken the decision to close all our recycling centres tomorrow. Sorry for any inconvenience – please stay safe.

Tenerife TUI TOM5529 12:10 Delayed to weather
Amsterdam KLM KL1523 16:25 Cancelled

CORRECT AT 14:14  18/02/22

Due to the pending storm Eunice on Friday 18/2/22 the Meadow and Animal Gardens will be closed for that day. Stay safe.

Storm Eunice is expected to arrive on Friday 18th and will bring strong winds and unsettled weather. Our electricity network is built to be resilient but strong winds and heavy rain can bring down branches and trees, damaging overhead power lines. Where this happens we work to restore power as quickly and safely as possible.
We have organised for additional staff in our contact centre and more engineers on the ground to be available to help customers whose electricity supply might be affected by the predicted weather. Residents will be able to find regular updates and information about individual power cuts on our website www.ukpowernetworks.co.uk . We will also be posting general updates on @UKPowerNetworks .
Anyone experiencing a power cut should:
· Visit www.ukpowernetworks.co.uk/powercut and type in their postcode to view our live power cut map, with details of individual power cuts ·
  • Call 105 free of charge to speak to our customer service team, report a power cut or damage to the electricity network ·
  • Tweet @UKPowerNetworks to report a power cut or to receive updates
  • Visit www.ukpowernetworks.co.uk for the latest updates
  • We advise people to stay clear of power lines and report damaged power lines immediately by calling 105 free from either a landline or a mobile phone. If they see electricity lines that are down or causing significant risk to the public they should call 999.
We provide extra help to customers on our Priority Service Register during a power cut. Households with older or disabled people, those with children under five, or where someone uses medical or mobility equipment that requires electricity, as well as other reasons, can join the register. You can find out more information about our Priority Service on our website: ukpowernetworks.co.uk/priority.

King’s Lynn Mart closed Friday – The Mart will be shut tomorrow (Friday 18th) for safety reasons due to Storm Eunice.  The showmen will be reviewing the situation for the weekend as the forecast becomes more definite.

Circus postponed again – Storm Eunice & Dudley haven’t been exactly welcoming to Circus Mondeo at Knights Hill.  The Circus which was due to start on Friday had already been postponed, now the new Saturday start date has moved to Wednesday 23rd.   Circus organisers took the decision on Thursday morning (17th) to de-rig the big top for safety reasons, as its predicted winds could reach speeds of 90mph throughout Friday.  Knights Hill is one of the highest points in King’s Lynn and is in a very exposed position, so to avoid damage, injury or perhaps the big top flying away unfortunately this is the decision that had to be made. If you already have tickets for any cancelled performances you will be able to reschedule or have a refund.

Energy efficiency roadshow event postponed – Due to the likely impact of Storm Eunice, a decision has been taken to postpone one of the energy efficiency roadshow events, planned for this weekend. The council was due to run a stand at The Spinney, Hunstanton, on Saturday but this will now take place in March on a date to be confirmed. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause
