Landmarks in King’s Lynn will continue to be lit up in blue and yellow to show support for the people of Ukraine until further notice.
Mayor of King’s Lynn & West Norfolk, Cllr Harry Humphrey, said: “The invasion of Ukraine is a brutal and illegal act and President Putin has shown he has no concern for civilian lives in how his campaign has been conducted.
“We continue to stand united behind the people of Ukraine and thank all those local people who join us.”
Stuart Dark MBE, leader of the borough council of King’s Lynn and West Norfolk, said: “Our firm message remains that we stand by the people of Ukraine and with the ongoing situation getting worse each day we will continue to do so.
“We know there are many local residents – including members of our own staff – who are shocked and affected by the Putin regime’s invasion of Ukraine and we are working up plans with partners to support refugees who may arrive in Norfolk.
“It has been heartening to hear about local efforts to help and the council will shortly be publishing on its website information about some of the ways in which people can show their support.”
