Winter Weather Warning To Drivers

Drivers across West Norfolk are being encouraged to take extra care when travelling as poor weather is due this week with a drop in temperatures.

There have been three fatal collisions over the weekend across the county, sadly resulting in five fatalities with a fourth serious collision resulting in one woman in hospital suffering critical injuries.

One fatal collision happened in Shipdham, a second in Elm High Road in Wisbech and a third at North Runcton on the A47. An elderly woman was also seriously injured in a collision with a bus in in Norwich and remains in hospital.

Inspector Simon Jones, of Norfolk and Suffolk Roads Policing Unit, said: “Firstly, our thoughts are with the family and friends of those who have been affected by these incidents.

“We are carrying out thorough investigations for all four collisions so it would not be appropriate to comment further on those specifically.

“However, we would like to ask people to take extra care as the road conditions worsen and allow plenty of time for their journeys.”
