New bus lanes in King’s Lynn, real-time travel information at a Hunstanton travel hub and better facilities and information at some West Norfolk bus-stops could be on the way.
They are some of the ideas that could have a share of nearly ÂŁ50m of Government funding spent on them which has been given to Norfolk to improve the bus service.
Some of the money is also being earmarked to improve access for disabled travellers and also schemes to reduce delays and cut bus-fares.
There are also plans to increase evening and weekend services in some areas.
Cllr Martin Wilby, cabinet member for highways, infrastructure and transport, said: “This is a robust plan which was developed with operators and influenced by feedback from more than 1500 Norfolk residents who took part in a recent consultation. More services and increased frequencies are key to enabling people to travel around the county by public transport and so it’s good to see that a significant amount of the funding will be used for this. The planned changes to infrastructure will reduce delays which will ensure an efficient and reliable service for passengers.”
Senior county councillors will consider what to do at a meeting on October 3. You can watch the meeting, live or afterwards, and read the papers by clicking hereÂ
