Two new schemes will guarantee job interviews for ex-armed forces personnel and care leavers who apply for jobs at King’s Lynn and West Norfolk Council.

Borough council leader Stuart Dark, MBE, explained: “Candidates who meet the essential criteria set out in the personal specification for a job vacancy and who are either a veteran or care leaver will be guaranteed an interview for the role for which they are applying.
“We’re already an armed forces friendly employer and have been awarded the silver level in the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme, but are working towards achieving the gold award. This guaranteed interview scheme is a step in the right direction. It will help support those who are recently out of service into civilian roles that are still effectively within the field of public service, something we believe may be attractive to ex forces personnel.”
