Norfolk is leading part of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations with 88 beacons registered to be lit to mark the Monarch’s milestone on the throne.
A total of 78 will be in public locations and ten in private land, which is more than those lit for previous Jubilees, and the Millennium.
The original target for Norfolk was 70 Beacons, representing one for each year of Her Majesty’s reign. Now organisers are hoping to reach three figures, outscoring every other county and demonstrating Norfolk’s loyalty and affection to its most special resident.
There’s still time to register and organise a Beacon in advance of 2nd June. Just visit www.queensjubileebeacons.com for all the information you need. This website also lists all the locations for Beacons across the country, updated monthly. From 11th April, www.platinumjubileenorfolk.org will provide a map of all Norfolk Beacon locations, together with other events being organized across the county celebrating the Jubilee.
